Press Cuttings - Learning IT's charity day out raises money for CHAS

29/09/01

It was a lovely day, the sun was shining the birds were singing and the sky was the deepest shade of blue - unfortunately that was in Italy. Here in Scotland - on the same day as the LIT Charity 5 asides tournament it was pouring down (or some other adjective starting with a 'p').

Despite the weather a few hardy souls turned up and started to prepare the event for the oncoming masses. Phil started to take care of the footy while Rois got busy organizing and coordinating the various stands.

The Young Enterprisers from Stirling High had a stall with various competitions; they were raising funds to start a business as part of their project.

Paul Helmsley had a balloon stall - you know the kind of thing fill the balloons with helium attach a label and then let it go. Eventually the balloon will land somewhere and hopefully whoever finds it will get in touch, the furthest away wins a prize. As most were launched under the stand at Stenhousemuirs Park and got trapped under the roof - less said the better.

Next to Paul - my favourite - Michael More the Butcher, how aptly named - we all wanted MORE (steak sandwiches….ahhhhh..droooollll..)

Last but not least along the front - CHAS - the charity benefiting form the day's events (the money raised will be donated to Rachel House Hospice)

One Row Back and we find Tricia, Lisa, Pamela and her friend face painting, the kids loved this - I think tigers were the most popular.

Kevin was at the very back with a networked computer game called FIFA2001. The game was popular with both girls and boys - even more popular than the live 5 a side games being played across the park.

As the day progressed the weather cleared and Allan was able to inflate his doll - oopps sorry I meant bouncy castle. This was great news for Stuart who was fed up being mistaken for one.

The castle caused a serious incident when the Bouncy Fairies, Karen and Lisa, were joined for a bounce by the ladies football team - the male spectators caused an obstruction and the football stopped - luckily DJ Mike was on hand - move along there's nothing to see here.

Finally to the Footy - If any one is interested in the full sordid details of which teams turned up and who won what then see Phil. Suffice to say that the final was between Silicon Group Alloa and LIT (Silicon Group Won).

In general and despite the weather, which actually ended up quite nice everybody had a great day the players enjoyed the sport and the spectators enjoyed the atmosphere - remember the event raised over a thousand pounds for a very worthwhile cause.

So to everybody that was there and did there bit - well done - and to those that were not there - you're names have been taken…
