Lean Six Sigma Training

Introduction | Courses & Dates | Modules | Certification

Introduction

Lean Six Sigma is a system of practices originally developed to systematically improve processes by eliminating defects. Defects are defined as units that are not members of the intended population. Since it was originally developed, Lean Six Sigma has become an element of many Total Quality Management initiatives. Lean Six Sigma at many organizations simply means a measure of quality that strives for near perfection. Lean Six Sigma is a disciplined, data-driven approach and methodology for eliminating defects in any process - from manufacturing to transactional and from product to service.

The process was pioneered in 1986 and was originally defined as a metric for measuring defects and improving quality, and a methodology to reduce defect levels below 3.4 Defects Per (one) Million Opportunities (DPMO).

Learning IT are delighted to be able to offer Lean Six Sigma Training in conjunction with Catalyst Consulting, a UK based specialist in Lean Six Sigma Training and Consulting. The modular nature of the programme has been designed to provide maximum flexibility and a varierty of options to meet different individual and organisational requirements.

Lean Six Sigma Training

Learning IT can work with you to develop a customised Lean Six Sigma Training programme which will build on your current quality programme and skills.  As with all Culture change “One Size Fits All” is dangerous and inefficient, but the following will give some idea of the building blocks we might use.

How to implement Lean Six Sigma is a 2 day workshop designed for managers who want to introduce Lean Six Sigma into their organisation.  This workshop introduces Lean Six Sigma and then covers everything needed to set up and manage an effective and appropriate Lean Six Sigma training programme for your organisation.

Leadership/Champion’s Workshop- A 1 or 2- day leadership workshop offers you a practical and hands-on view of Lean Six Sigma, how to manage with metrics and how to align measures and improvement efforts.  In this workshop the management team will learn how to select high impact projects for the project leaders and how to support and review their progress.

Green Belt Foundation Course- This 4 day training course is designed for part-time project leaders and team members.   It will set the stage for certification as a Green Belt in your Lean Six Sigma program.  It will also provide the foundation to progress to Black Belt.  On completion attendees will have the skills necessary to run basic Lean Six Sigma projects

Advanced Green Belt- This Lean Six Sigma training course is typically run in modules.  The first module is an accelerated Foundation course, followed by two 3-day modules providing hands-on introduction to Minitab and then a series of practicalactivities covering Lean Six Sigma statistical tools.

Black Belt Course- An additional 10 day programme (split into smaller modules) will covert Green Belts with some basic project successes behind them into Black Belts - full time project leaders for the more complex Lean Six Sigma projects.  The more advanced tools and techniques will be covered together with the basic “soft” skills needed to ensure project success.

Advanced Course- In two additional weeks of training your senior project leaders and coaches (Master Black Belts) learn advanced statistical methodologies and how to use them in the context of improvement projects.

Designing Lean Six Sigma Processes- In a four day Lean Six Sigma training programme participants learn the right methodologies to create new processes (and products) which will operate at higher levels of effectiveness from day one.

The following couses can also be scheduled as closed company courses:

Consulting Skills- This two day lean Six Sigma training session is designed for project coaches to review and improve their ability to consult improvement projects.

Change Management- To understand and apply the tools of managing change and to act in the role of a change agent this 2 1/2 day workshop will be of help to the project leaders handling large scale projects.

Team Development- A one day team working session to help project teams build an effective team.  This is a highly participative day that look is at the characteristics of “brilliant teams” in a fun but involving fashion.

Process Management- This two day training programme is created for process owners and process management teams to learn how to maintain processes professionally, thus ensuring the gain from improvement activities is not lost and new opportunities for improvement are identified.

Lean Thinking in Service & Transaction- This three day programme introduces the principles of lean thinking and their application in non-manufacturing applications in a practical, interactive manner.

† Delegates attending training from module 2 onwards will require their own copy of Minitab software on their laptops to ensure they get the most out of training.
